Regulative rules: A distinctive normative kind

What are rules? In this paper I develop a view of regulative rules which takes them to be distinctive normative kind occupying middle ground between orders and truths. The paradigmatic cases that I'm interested in social like etiquette legal traffic rules. On the I'll propose, rule is general content force due human activity: enactment by an authority or acceptance community. Rules unlike being not necessarily communicative, expression's giver's will, evaluable for sincerity, they have propositional content. And they're truths themselves even truth-evaluable (though their contents are). This because qua things constatives mind world direction fit, but more performatives. Furthermore, differ from normativity isolated background justification therefore dependent on contributory notions reasons coming together weighing explanation. As such, occupy truths, much H. L. A. Hart's opinion law occupies “coercion” “morality” (Hart 1961/1994). also illustrate virtues understanding showing how proper appreciation helps us defuse common objection practice theory
