چکیده
What are rules? In this paper I develop a view of regulative rules which takes them to be distinctive normative kind occupying middle ground between orders and truths. The paradigmatic cases that I'm interested in social like etiquette legal traffic rules. On the I'll propose, rule is general content force due human activity: enactment by an authority or acceptance community. Rules unlike being not necessarily communicative, expression's giver's will, evaluable for sincerity, they have propositional content. And they're truths themselves even truth-evaluable (though their contents are). This because qua things constatives mind world direction fit, but more performatives. Furthermore, differ from normativity isolated background justification therefore dependent on contributory notions reasons coming together weighing explanation. As such, occupy truths, much H. L. A. Hart's opinion law occupies “coercion” “morality” (Hart 1961/1994). also illustrate virtues understanding showing how proper appreciation helps us defuse common objection practice theory

Regulative and Constitutive Norms in Normative Multiagent Systems
In this paper we introduce a formal framework for the construction of normative multiagent systems, based on Searle’s notion of the construction of social reality. Within the structure of normative multiagent systems we distinguish between regulative norms that describe obligations, prohibitions and permissions, and constitutive norms that regulate the creation of institutional facts as well as...

To what extent do people achieve accuracy in judging others’ situations? Based on interpersonal perception models, we propose that ex-situ raters may attain accuracy by judging the psychological characteristics of a situation that in-situ raters have experienced according to a normative and distinctive characteristics profile. Biesanz’ Social Accuracy Model (SAM) provides a flexible crossed-eff...

We examined how counterfactual thinking translates into deontic guidance rules by asking participants to infer these d...

متن کاملAttributing Mental Attitudes to Social Entities: Constitutive Rules are Beliefs, Regulative Rules are Goals
In this paper, we propose a model of constitutive and regulative norms in a logical multiagent framework. We analyze the relationship between these two types of rules and explain similarities between them, using the metaphor of considering social entities like normative systems, groups and organizations as agents and of attributing them mental attitudes as well as an autonomous behavior. We arg...
